3 Types of Alarms to Consider Installing at Your Small Business

Posted on

If you own a small business, you are going to be very interested in protecting your assets at all times. While you may have a basic security system in place, you might be better served by installing specific alarms that can be activated for specific situations. Alarm companies today can build custom alarms that will sound under a number of different scenarios. Here are three such scenarios that you might want to be better prepared for.

1. Fire Alarm

You might have an alarm that goes off if someone breaks into the building at night, but do you have an alarm specifically for fires? What happens if a fire breaks out in a backroom somewhere after everyone has gone home for the day?  A fire alarm can be designed to automatically call the fire department, and with today's technology, it might even be able to send you a text to your phone to let you know.

2. Silent Alarm

You might not be a bank or a credit union, but if you have cashiers that handle a large amount of money on a daily basis, your business could be at risk for a robbery attempt. Do you know about those little buttons that bank tellers can press if there is a holdup inside the bank? You could install something similar inside your own business. It will alert the police that a potential robbery is in progress, but it won't audibly announce this to the bad guy. This allows you to get help right away without making the robber angry and escalating the situation.

.3. Temperature Alarm

Does your business have inventory that needs to be maintained at a specific temperature? If something goes wrong and the temperature drops or rises, you could end up with thousands of dollars in losses. Luckily, it's possible today to set up an alarm to help you monitor this exact situation. If the temperature goes too far in either direction, the alarm will sound to alert your employees or send out a notice to your phone.

Stop and think if your business could benefit from more than just a basic security system. At the very least, every business should have a fire alarm installed. A modern alarm company may also be able to help you design custom alarms for a wide variety of situations. Don't get caught off guard and end up losing your inventory or your entire business.
